Maryland and Baltimore County announced that Anduril Industries plans to build Arsenal-2, a two million square-foot software-defined shipyard at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point. The company said it will invest $3.7 billion in the project.

State officials project more than 3,100 permanent direct jobs and more than 14,000 jobs supported directly or indirectly. They also project more than $2 billion in annual economic output and approximately $312 million in annual wages. These figures are forecasts, not completed results.

Maryland and Baltimore County have committed to match up to 13% of Anduril's anticipated private investment through existing incentive programs and proposed new appropriations. Any new appropriations must be approved by the Maryland General Assembly and Baltimore County Council.

Reuters reported that the project is paired with a U.S. Navy contract worth up to $2.9 billion and is expected to begin operations by the end of the decade. The facility is intended to expand production capacity for components used in the submarine industrial base.
